Habitat: South-facing slope, dry loose soil strewn with rocky rubble. Associated with Pinus jeffreyi, Abies mangifica var. shastensis, Ceanothus cordulatus, Erigeron flexuosus, and Allium flacifolium.
Occurrence Remarks: Deciduous perennial from subterranean caudex, leaves fleshy, flowers white at base and rose on upper half.
